Africa Comedy Live Debuts on the Continent With Exclusive Lagos Launch Event

Africa Comedy Live, a digital platform connecting comedians and content creators across the continent and the diaspora, has officially arrived in Africa. The launch will be marked by an exclusive, invitation-only event titled A Salute to Nollywood in Victoria Island, Lagos.

Africa Comedy Live [ACL], a digital platform designed to link African comedians, digital creators, and audiences across the continent and global diaspora, has officially launched its operations in Africa. The rollout will kick off with an exclusive, invitation-only founding ceremony titled A Salute to Nollywood, scheduled for Friday, 13 November 2026, at TRIB3 in Victoria Island, Lagos.

This landmark occasion celebrates a dual achievement: the official entry of the Africa Comedy Live platform into the domestic market and a formal tribute to the entertainers and creatives whose foundational efforts established the massive viewership African comedy enjoys today. Operating via www.africacomedylive.com, the platform serves as an auxiliary channel for creators rather than a replacement for their existing distribution networks.

What are the core features of the platform?

The platform enables content creators to retain their established fanbases, increase their revenue streams, and unlock cross-continental opportunities. Simultaneously, it provides enthusiasts across Africa and overseas with a centralized hub to discover top-tier comedians and digital personalities.

The upcoming Lagos gathering will convene industry executives, media practitioners, comedians, and prospective collaborators for a program featuring a live product demonstration, cultural celebrations, and recognition of pioneering performers whose legacies continue to inspire contemporary talents.

Founder Carrie Crawford commented on the strategic expansion: “Africa’s comedy has never lacked talent. What it has lacked is a stage that belongs to it. For seven years we have put African comedians in front of live audiences in the United States. Now we are bringing that home. Africa Comedy Live is that permanent stage, and Lagos is where it begins.”

Participation in the Lagos launch is strictly by invitation and closed to the general public. While the event serves as an introduction for fans and a gateway for creators seeking community membership, it also presents an avenue for corporate brands and strategic partners to engage with the next phase of the continent's comedy industry.

Established by Carrie Crawford, Africa Comedy Live has successfully hosted live African comedy showcases in the United States since 2019, featuring notable acts such as Kenny Blaq, Helen Paul, and Real Warri Pikin. The initiative is anchored on the philosophy that African comedy merits a global platform and a permanent digital home.
