The Senator Sharafadeen Alli Campaign Organisation (SSACO) alleges that several All Progressives Congress ([APC](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/All_Progressives_Congress_(Nigeria))) candidates, their supporters and campaign activities were violently disrupted in Ibadan, Oyo State, as the 2027 election cycle intensifies.
According to a statement released by SSACO’s Director of Media and Publicity, Bisi Oladele, Alhaja Tawakalitu Alli – the spouse of APC governorship hopeful **[Sharafadeen Alli](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sharafadeen_Alli)** – was assaulted while conducting a medical outreach at Ibikunle House, Ayeye, on Wednesday.
The communiqué also reports that the campaign teams of APC senatorial candidate for Oyo South, **Aderemi Oseni**, and the party’s contender for the Ibadan North‑West/Ibadan South‑West Federal Constituency, **Folake Olunloyo‑Oshinowo**, faced attacks during separate rallies at Agbaje Market, Orita‑Merin, and Idi‑Arere respectively.
**What does SSACO attribute the attacks to?**
The organisation describes the incidents as deliberate attempts to derail political activities ahead of the 2027 polls, suggesting involvement of supporters of the **[Allied Peoples Movement](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Allied_Peoples_Movement)** (APM).
**Who is being called upon to intervene?**
SSACO urges Governor **[Seyi Makinde](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Seyi_Makinde)** and the APM governorship candidate, Bimbo Adekanmbi, to ensure that all political actors can campaign without intimidation. The group also appeals to security agencies to investigate, identify and prosecute the perpetrators.
A quoted line from the statement reads: “The SSACO is at the least miffed by the unwarranted and barbaric attacks by APM hoodlums on Alhaja Tawakalitu Alli during a medical outreach she organised …”.
Despite the alleged assaults, SSACO insists that the APC will not suspend its campaign operations, emphasizing the right of candidates and supporters to associate, assemble and campaign lawfully.
The organisation further calls on the state government to protect residents irrespective of political affiliation, reminding Governor Makinde of his constitutional duty as chief security officer of Oyo State. It also advises all parties to focus on issue‑based campaigning rather than violence, asserting that Oyo’s electorate deserves substantive policy debates.
No independent evidence has been presented to substantiate claims that the governor or the APM candidate directly sponsored the attacks.
