Asaba Realtor Welcomes Quadruplets After Years of Miscarriages and Heartbreak

An Asaba-based realtor and content creator, Racheal Obinna, has shared her inspiring journey of welcoming quadruplets after battling years of recurrent miscarriages, an unsuccessful IVF cycle, and the painful loss of newborn twins.

Racheal Obinna, a realtor and content creator based in Asaba, Delta State, recently shared her emotional journey of welcoming quadruplets following a prolonged battle with recurrent miscarriages, a failed in-vitro fertilisation (IVF) procedure, and the devastating loss of newborn twins.

Speaking in an interview, Obinna revealed that her fertility challenges started after she welcomed her first child, who is now 11 years old. During subsequent years, she endured multiple miscarriages while attempting to expand her family.

What were the milestones of her fertility journey?

Obinna explained that the frequent miscarriages took away the excitement usually associated with pregnancy tests, leaving her constantly anxious about raising expectations only to face another loss. In 2023, she turned to IVF, but that pregnancy ended barely a week after a positive result. She later conceived twins naturally in 2024, yet both babies passed away due to complications within six days of birth.

Undeterred by the immense grief, Obinna pursued motherhood further. She underwent two unsuccessful intrauterine insemination attempts before committing to another round of IVF. She commenced the process in November 2025, with the embryo transfer performed on November 28. A test three days later confirmed a positive result, and her initial ultrasound scan revealed she was expecting quadruplets.

How did she cope with the pregnancy and delivery?

Reflecting on the period, Obinna said she relied heavily on prayer and left the outcome entirely to her faith, asking God to see her through as she could not bear another tragedy. The pregnancy progressed smoothly without severe complications, culminating in the safe delivery of the four infants at 35 weeks and one day.

She expressed appreciation for the unwavering support of her husband, her eldest daughter, and her spiritual faith, which sustained her through the emotional toll of recurrent pregnancy loss. Now a mother of five, she noted that managing the needs of four newborns simultaneously involves considerable financial commitment, revealing that the family incurred expenses of about N5.6m at the private medical facility where she gave birth. She also highlighted the high cost of maintenance, noting that a tin of baby formula is consumed every two days.

Why did she share her story publicly?

Obinna stated that she decided to make her experience public to inspire other women battling infertility and repeated pregnancy losses. She encouraged women on similar paths to keep believing in their own testimonies, regardless of the duration of their wait, while recognizing the profound emotional hurdles involved in the pursuit of motherhood.
