Incumbent [Bauchi State House of Assembly](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bauchi_State_House_of_Assembly) member Yusuf Abdullahi Itas has formally withdrawn from the [Allied Peoples’ Movement](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Allied_Peoples%27_Movement) (APM) ticket for the [Itas/Gadau State Constituency](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bauchi_State) ahead of the 2027 general elections, submitting a resignation letter on 5 October 2026 in a letter addressed to the party’s state chairman.
Itas, who chairs the House Committee on Petitions and serves as deputy chairman of the Committee on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, sent the notice to APM’s Bauchi state chairman. The withdrawal follows the exit of the Assembly’s chief whip, Hon. Musa Wakili Nakwada, who stepped down less than three weeks earlier. In his letter, Itas said the move was “entirely voluntary and personal” and thanked party leaders and constituents for their support.
The lawmaker also expressed appreciation for the people of Itas/Gadau for their encouragement throughout his tenure.
