**Who, what, when, where and outcome?**
[Nigerian forward David Okereke](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/David_Okereke) captured the [Serie B](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Serie_B) September Goal of the Month award after his 30‑metre thunderbolt helped [Benevento Calcio](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Benevento_Calcio) defeat Hellas Verona 3‑1 in September 2024.
**What made the goal decisive?**
The strike came in the 59th minute when the match was level at 1‑1. Okereke gathered the ball just outside the penalty area, unleashed a right‑footed shot that flew into the top corner beyond goalkeeper [Nicola Leali](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nicola_Leali), restoring Benevento’s lead.
**Who were the other contenders?**
Okereke’s effort outshone those of Modena’s Andrea Belotti and Cremonese youngster Adin Ličina, who were also shortlisted for the monthly accolade.
**How did Okereke arrive at Benevento?**
The 29‑year‑old marked his first goal in four league appearances for the club after joining on a free transfer in August, following his departure from Cremonese.
