The conflict involving the United States and Israel against Iran has now reached its seventh day as of today (Friday).
More than 1,200 fatalities have been reported, with the bulk of these occurring in Iran.
We present significant updates regarding the war as it enters its seventh day.
Increasing Casualties
Reports indicate that the death toll among Iranians has exceeded 1,000, following US and Israeli missile strikes on Tehran.
According to the semi-official Tasnim news agency, as of Thursday, 1,230 deaths were confirmed in Iran due to ongoing attacks. This figure marks an increase from 1,045 reported the previous day and 787 earlier in the conflict.
There are no signs of a resolution to the conflict, with casualties continuing to rise. Approximately 12 Israelis have been killed due to Iranian missile strikes, with nine fatalities recorded from a strike in Beit Shemesh. Additionally, six US nationals have been reported dead as a result of an Iranian attack on a US military installation in Kuwait during this period.
Treatment for Sailors
Sri Lankan authorities revealed that some Iranian sailors injured by a US submarine attack in the Indian Ocean are recuperating in a Galle hospital.
The attack has resulted in at least 87 fatalities, with a number of individuals still unaccounted for as rescue operations continue. Military rescuers have identified 32 survivors while approximately 60 additional sailors are missing.
Officials from the National Hospital in Galle confirmed that 87 bodies were transported there following a distress call from the IRIS Dena. The rescued sailors are being treated for minor injuries and may be discharged soon.
Tehran has requested assistance from Sri Lanka for the repatriation of the deceased, although a timeline for this process is still pending.
Explosion near Kuwait
In a related incident, Kuwait reported a substantial explosion on a tanker that occurred outside its territorial waters.
The Ministry of Interior stated the explosion took place over 60 kilometers (37 miles) from the Mubarak al-Kabeer port. The UK Maritime Trade Operations reported that the captain of an anchored tanker observed a significant explosion on the vessel's port side, subsequently seeing a smaller craft departing the vicinity.
While the crew is unharmed, the tanker has taken on water, and oil has been reported in the surrounding waters, raising environmental concerns.
Qatar Airways Partially Resumes Operations
Qatar Airways has resumed limited flight operations as of Thursday, following a suspension due to the escalating conflict.
The airline is now facilitating relief flights for stranded travelers in Muscat and Riyadh while continuing to halt flights from Doha due to ongoing airspace restrictions.
