Delta Police Detain Alleged Gun Manufacturer

Police in Delta State have captured a man suspected of illegally crafting firearms. The arrest occurred following a raid in the Ika South area, resulting in the recovery of multiple homemade guns.

Members of the Delta State Police Command have apprehended a 59-year-old man, Friday Ojei, believed to be involved in illegal firearms manufacturing.

The arrest took place in the Emuhu community of the Ika South Local Government Area and was executed by the command's Raiders Squad under the leadership of SP Akanya Agbogha.

A collection of tools and firearms recovered from the suspect's premises.

According to Bright Edafe, the spokesperson for the command, the operation was initiated based on intelligence reports that led to a raid on a suspected firearms manufacturing site on March 6, 2026. This operation culminated in the suspect's arrest and the seizure of several locally made guns.

During the search conducted at the location, authorities discovered four homemade firearms, alongside tools including a welding machine, a drilling machine, and a grinding machine, as well as various metal pipes thought to be used in the gun manufacturing process.

Edafe confirmed that Ojei is currently detained, and investigations are ongoing to identify and capture additional members of the illegal firearm production network.
