On the morning of 9 October, a 55‑year‑old driver escaped serious injury after his Honda vehicle was struck by a train at the PWD railway crossing in Ikeja, Lagos. Bystanders pulled him from the wreckage and he walked away unaided, while officials cleared the scene to allow the train to proceed.
The train was heading towards Agege when it collided with the Honda bearing registration EKY 902 JT, leaving the car extensively damaged.
According to [Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA)](https://lastma.lagosstate.gov.ng), its officers together with security personnel rescued the motorist and removed the damaged vehicle from the tracks, enabling the train to continue its journey.
A spokesperson for LASTMA said, “Our teams acted quickly to rescue the motorist and clear the line, ensuring minimal disruption to rail services.”
Even after the wreckage was cleared, traffic congestion persisted around the PWD area for some time following the incident.
No other injuries were reported; the driver walked away on his own after being helped out of the car.
