Ebonyi State Governor, Francis Nwifuru, has publicly stated that he will neither impose candidates nor permit the imposition of candidates on the populace in upcoming general elections. The governor, who belongs to the All Progressives Congress (APC), made this commitment during the wedding ceremony of his younger brother, Paulinus Nwifuru, at the Government House Chapel.
Governor Nwifuru emphasized his unwavering support for President Bola Tinubu, identifying him as the only presidential candidate recognised and endorsed by Ebonyi State. He cited President Tinubu's demonstrated love and support for the state as the basis for this endorsement. Additionally, he mentioned Goodluck Mbam of the Ebonyi State House of Assembly as another individual endorsed by his constituents.
In his address, the governor advised political aspirants to exercise caution in their statements and actions to prevent unnecessary political tension, encouraging them to place their faith in divine timing. He announced plans to convene with state stakeholders to strategise for a smooth electoral process, outlining that zonal meetings will commence on Wednesday and continue through Thursday and Friday, following his consultations with state leaders.
These discussions will cover the Senate, House of Representatives, State House of Assembly, and Governorship positions. However, the governor made it clear that the presidency is a non-negotiable matter, reaffirming President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the party's sole presidential candidate and expressing confidence in his leadership.
Governor Nwifuru concluded by congratulating his brother and his new wife, extending his best wishes for their marital journey.
