Renowned Nigerian gospel minister and recording artiste Nkiruka Gift Ogboruche, widely recognized as Enkay Ogboruche, emerged victorious at the 2026 Clima Awards Africa, taking home the coveted Africa Gospel Music Impact Award. The prestigious ceremony took place on October 9, 2026, in Lagos, celebrating musical exports whose inspirational melodies have transcended regional boundaries to redefine contemporary worship across the African continent.
What led to this latest career milestone?
The accolade arrives during a defining phase for the celebrated vocalist, who has spent over ten years establishing herself as a formidable voice in the gospel music sphere. Throughout her career, she has delivered three critically acclaimed studio projects: The Kingdom Anthem in 2015, The Bridge in 2018, and Declaration in 2023. Her expansive repertoire includes widely embraced church anthems such as “Yes, You Are The Lord” and “Salute,” the latter of which featured acclaimed American Grammy winner Kierra Sheard.
Beyond her vocal contributions on records, Ogboruche exerts significant influence as a live performer and industry mentor. She serves as the convener for major Christian gatherings including Enkay Live in Concert, the Pneuma Worship Experience, and Alabanza. Furthermore, she established The Spotlight, an initiative aimed at identifying, nurturing, and mentoring emerging gospel acts across the region.
What other recognitions has she received recently?
The Clima Awards recognition follows a series of high-profile achievements for the artiste earlier in the year. She was previously awarded Diaspora Female Artiste of the Year at the 2026 Nigeria International Gospel Music Awards (NIGMA). Additionally, she earned a place in the Recording Academy class of 2026, further cementing her status among influential African industry stakeholders participating in worldwide musical discourse.
Reflecting on her trajectory, Ogboruche frequently attributes her longevity to a combination of spiritual discipline, artistic evolution, and persistence. Her ministry has transitioned from domestic assembly platforms to prominent global stages, notably sharing space with veteran musician Michael W. Smith at Liberty University’s Global Night of Worship.
Industry analysts have lauded the Clima Awards committee's decision, pointing to her consistent delivery of quality sound, vocal prowess, and a decade-long dedication to elevating African gospel sounds onto international platforms. With her fourth studio album currently in development, Enkay Ogboruche remains a vital force demonstrating the global reach and artistic excellence of African Christian music.
