Abdulrahman Auwal, a member of the [Mobile Police](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nigerian_Police_Force#Mobile_Police), was killed on Thursday, 8 October 2026 near Kwi‑Beco Road, a community that lies between the Barkin Ladi and Riyom Local Government Areas of [Plateau State](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Plateau_State). He was travelling on a motorcycle with an okada rider when he was allegedly attacked with a sharp object; the rider survived. Auwal’s body was buried at Zaria Cemetery in Jos on Saturday, 10 October 2026.
**What did the family say?**
Larai Musa, the officer’s mother, told Daily Trust on Sunday that she accepts her son’s fate but urges the [Inspector General of Police](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Inspector_General_of_Police_(Nigeria)) to investigate the circumstances. She said, “There are still unanswered questions surrounding the death of my son. He was reported to have been macheted with a sharp object while on a motorcycle with an okada rider. My son was killed and the okada rider is alive.”
She added, “The question we are asking is, who reported the killing of Abdulrahman? It was reported that he was macheted. Where is the okada rider who took him to the village to get foodstuffs? We learned that they were stopped and he was killed. The okada rider who reported the death should be able to explain where he took him to and who stopped them and attacked only the passenger. We believe in death, but we are calling on the police authorities to explain how our son was killed.”
The family also expressed disappointment that, four days after the incident, no police officers or colleagues had visited to offer condolences, despite Auwal’s service to the nation. No official statement from the police hierarchy has been released regarding the officer’s death.
