FCT Minister Wike says President Tinubu’s 2027 Re‑election Dominates His Every Thought

Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike declared that securing Bola Tinubu’s second term in 2027 is his sole political priority, while denouncing the opposition ticket of Atiku Abubakar and Rotimi Amaechi as corrupt. He also dismissed other challengers as unelectable and predicted a smoother campaign than in 2023.

[Nyesom Wike](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nyesom_Wike), the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) minister, has stepped up his drive to secure a second term for [President Bola Tinubu](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bola_Tinubu), stating that winning the 2027 re‑election is his sole political preoccupation.

Speaking at town‑hall gatherings with the Rumueme and Apara kingdoms in Obio‑Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State on Monday, Wike dismissed the African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential ticket of [Atiku Abubakar](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Atiku_Abubakar) and former Rivers State governor [Rotimi Amaechi](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rotimi_Amaechi), branding it a “joint ticket of corruption.”

He argued that the opposition alliance lacks credibility and will find it difficult to achieve the constitutionally required 25 % vote share in Rivers State.

Wike specifically targeted Atiku for recent remarks urging voters to accept money offered by the ruling party, questioning the former vice president’s anti‑corruption stance.

“When I saw Atiku on television yesterday, asking Nigerians to take any money given to them by people from the party in power, that it will be stolen money, I said haa, Atiku is now an apostle of anti‑corruption?” Wike said.

“The same Atiku that his boss described as corrupt and that one of his major regrets is making him his Vice President is talking.”

Emphasising his loyalty to the current administration, Wike said his complete immersion in the president’s political future is reflected in federal appointments and development projects directed to Rivers State, which he claims have generated massive local support.

“Each day I sleep, I am thinking about the president’s reelection. When I am eating, I think about the president’s reelection. Everything I am doing now is about the president’s reelection,” he declared, adding that he expects the upcoming campaign to be smoother than the 2023 contest.

The FCT minister also ruled out other opposition figures, including Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential candidate Peter Obi, labeling them unelectable.
