Federal High Court dismisses eight‑count charge against alleged PFIPC fraudster Adeniyi Adeyemi

On Monday, a Federal High Court in Abuja halted the eight‑count criminal case against Adeniyi Adeyemi, accused of posing as the Director General of the Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council. The government asked for the trial to end so the matter could be re‑filed in the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory.

A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja on Monday terminated the eight‑count criminal prosecution of Adeniyi Adeyemi, who is alleged to have impersonated the Director General of the [Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Presidential_Foreign_Intervention_Promotion_Council) (PFIPC). The court’s decision followed a request from the federal government to move the case to the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory for a fresh arraignment.

Justice Mohammed Umar, presiding over the case, formally ended the trial after the government’s application. The request was presented by Senior Advocate of Nigeria and Director of the [Public Prosecution of the Federation (DPPF)](https://www.dppf.gov.ng), Rotimi Oyedepo, who argued that procedural flaws warranted a transfer.

Oyedepo explained that the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice had reviewed the case file and identified several loopholes. He noted that the documents purportedly forged by Adeyemi in connection with the bogus agency fall under the jurisdiction of the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory, not the Federal High Court.

"Given the identified procedural deficiencies, the appropriate venue for prosecution is the High Court of the FCT," Oyedepo told the judge, urging that the matter be re‑filed where it can be properly addressed.

The court’s dismissal clears the way for the federal government to re‑initiate proceedings in the correct jurisdiction, ensuring that any alleged forgery or fraud can be examined under the appropriate legal framework.
