A midnight fire outbreak at a mechanical workshop situated along Oladunni Street in the Isheri-Idimu district of the Alimosho Local Government Area, Lagos State, destroyed 21 luxury vehicles in the early hours of Friday.
The emergency occurred approximately at 3:05 am adjacent to an Eternal Filling Station. Quick intervention from multi-agency responders successfully contained the inferno, stopping it from spreading to the adjacent fuel station and other surrounding residential structures.
According to the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), their Dolphin Response Team stationed in Igando was mobilized to the scene immediately following a distress alert.
What caused the midnight fire outbreak?
Preliminary investigations suggest the fire began within the auto workshop premises before rapidly consuming the parked automobiles. Responders worked collaboratively, bringing together personnel from the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, the Lagos Neighbourhood Safety Corps, and the Nigeria Police Force to tackle the blaze.
Dr. Olufemi Damilola Oke-Osanyintolu, the Permanent Secretary of LASEMA, issued a situation report stating that an initial assessment revealed 21 exotic cars were impacted by the fire. Additionally, a section of an adjacent building sustained minor exterior scorching.
He verified that the fire had been fully put out and that subsequent damping- down procedures to eliminate any remaining hot spots were successfully concluded.
Were there any casualties recorded?
Authorities confirmed that no fatalities or physical injuries were sustained by anyone during the incident.
Oke-Osanyintolu commended the swift reaction of all participating emergency agencies, emphasizing that their rapid deployment averted what could have been a catastrophic disaster involving the nearby petrol station.
Following the incident, safety authorities reiterated calls for residents and business operators—particularly mechanics and artisans handling flammable substances—to strictly adhere to safety regulations and fire prevention standards to protect public assets.
