William Stevenson, the former spouse of Jill Biden, has been apprehended and charged with first-degree murder in connection with the death of his current wife, Linda Stevenson.
The 77-year-old Stevenson was taken into custody on Monday following a grand jury indictment filed in Delaware, which alleges his involvement in the death of Linda.
Authorities from New Castle County have not disclosed specific details regarding the circumstances of the death. However, earlier statements indicated that officers responded to reports of a domestic dispute on December 28 at a residence in the Wilmington area.
Linda Stevenson was discovered unresponsive in the living room and was pronounced dead despite the attempts of officers at the scene to revive her. At the time, the release noted her body was sent to the Delaware Division of Forensic Science for an autopsy.
In her obituary, Linda, aged 64, is remembered by family and friends as being "deeply family-oriented" and a devoted fan of the Philadelphia Eagles. It was also mentioned that she had established a small bookkeeping business in her later years.
While the indictment did not specify the cause of death, police reported that it resulted from an extensive investigation lasting several weeks.
Currently, William Stevenson is being held at the Howard Young Correctional Institution as he was unable to meet the $500,000 cash bail. It is unclear whether he has engaged legal representation at this moment.
