Professor Oba AbdulRaheem is chairing the Kwara APC Peace Committee, which convened on 17 September at his Ilorin home to settle internal disputes within the All Progressives Congress and boost the party's prospects for the 2027 general elections.

Prof. [Oba AbdulRaheem](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oba_Abdul_Raheem), former Vice‑Chancellor of the University of Ilorin and ex‑chairman of the Federal Character Commission, is leading a newly created Kwara APC Peace Committee that gathered at his Ilorin residence on 17 September. The panel aims to heal rifts inside the [All Progressives Congress](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/All_Progressives_Congress) and rally backing for the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The inaugural meeting, held on 17 September, was described in a statement released to Vanguard as a commitment to resolve disagreements stemming from the recent APC primaries and to foster unity among party members.

Committee members include Dr. Johnson Adewumi, an educationist and founder of Thomas Adewumi University, Oko; former minister and ex‑Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly Rt. Hon. Issa Bio Ibrahim; and former Secretary to the Kwara State Government and ex‑Member of the House of Representatives Hon. AbdulGaniyu Cook Olododo. Additional participants are veteran journalist Oloriewe Raheem Adedoyin, former Speaker Rt. Hon. Benjamin Ezekiel Issa, Pastor John Dara of the Tinubu‑Shettima Presidential Campaign Council, and former Federal Character Commission member Hon. James Jiya Kolo.

According to the released statement, the committee will act as a conscience‑voice for APC leaders, addressing internal grievances while highlighting the achievements of President Bola Tinubu’s administration and Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq’s tenure in Kwara State.

The group has already reached out to disaffected political figures and influential stakeholders, urging reconciliation and the formation of a united front before the elections. It is also mobilising support for the APC’s governorship candidate Rt. Hon. Yakubu Danladi and other party candidates in the state, with the ultimate goal of securing broad stakeholder backing and strengthening party cohesion ahead of the 2027 polls.

"The committee is committed to resolving disagreements arising from the outcome of the APC primaries and promoting unity among party members," the statement said.
