Former Ohaji/Egbema Chairman Marcel Amadioha Says Over N100 Million Was Invested in Security

Prince Marcel Amadioha, the immediate past Executive Chairman of Ohaji/Egbema Local Government in Imo State, claims he spent more than N100 million on security equipment and community projects. He is now contesting the Ohaji‑Egbema State Constituency seat under the APC.

Prince Marcel Amadioha, who recently served as the Executive Chairman of Ohaji/Egbema Local Government Area in [Imo State](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Imo_State), announced that his administration allocated upwards of N100 million to combat insecurity in the oil‑producing communities.

He told a gathering of practising journalists in Owerri over the weekend that the council purchased security gear, including GPS trackers, which helped curb criminal activities. Amadioha stressed that the insecurity stemmed from local issues such as cultism that later morphed into kidnappings and other threats, rather than the actions of unidentified gunmen.

According to him, the perpetrators were residents whose identities were known, enabling the council to intervene effectively. He added that the security challenges would likely continue unless political leaders stopped exploiting the situation for personal gain.

Beyond security, Amadioha highlighted several development projects completed during his tenure: construction of health centres, markets, roads, electricity installations, reconciliation initiatives, and the council secretariat building, the last of which was commissioned before he left office.

Now the [All Progressives Congress](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/All_Progressives_Congress) (APC) candidate for the Ohaji‑Egbema State Constituency seat in the Imo State House of Assembly, Amadioha described himself as the most qualified contender, confident of winning the election. He asserted, “Even those contesting the election with me, I have impacted in their lives.”

He urged voters to consider his track record and the services he delivered when casting their ballots. Amadioha also argued that the House of Assembly needs a seasoned representative who can hit the ground running without basic legislative training.

If elected, he pledged to scrutinise the activities of the Imo State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission ([ISOPADEC](https://isopadec.gov.ng/)), aiming to revive the agency so it can better serve oil‑producing communities.

Regarding oil company operations in the area, Amadioha blamed certain community leaders for failing to inform residents about the companies’ operational costs, which he said contributed to local discontent.
