[Georgina Rodriguez](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Georgina_Rodriguez), wife of [Cristiano Ronaldo](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cristiano_Ronaldo), swiftly removed an Instagram story that criticised Portugal manager [Jorge Jesus](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jorge_Jesus) using a fabricated quote attributed to former Manchester United boss [Sir Alex Ferguson](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alex_Ferguson).
The 32‑year‑old model and influencer posted a comment saying she could not understand how Jesus could “carry the name of Christ,” and attached a bogus Ferguson quotation that suggested the coach was insecure for calling up Ronaldo.
The alleged Ferguson statement – “If Jorge Jesus knew in his heart that he had no intention of using him, then why did he call him up in the first place? To make a point? That’s not authority, that’s insecurity.” – was never made by the Scottish legend and appears to have been generated by artificial‑intelligence tools.
Rodriguez deleted the story from her Instagram account, which has 78 million followers, shortly after publishing it.
Ronaldo arrived in Madrid early Thursday after travelling from Copenhagen, where Portugal were playing Denmark. He was seen leaving the Parken Stadium on Wednesday after missing a third consecutive training session.
The Portuguese star later posted on Instagram that he left the national team camp because of remarks made by Jesus during a press conference.
The dispute began when Ronaldo was omitted from the starting line‑up for Portugal’s 2‑1 victory over Norway – the first time in 18 years he had not completed a full match for his country, excluding injury or suspension periods.
In his Instagram statement Ronaldo wrote that after the coach’s press conference and a discussion with the Portuguese Football Federation president, he decided to depart the training camp, promising to explain the reasons to Portuguese fans later and wishing his teammates good luck.
Jesus, who also coached Ronaldo at Al‑Nassr, defended his actions, saying his conscience was clear and that the situation did not divide the squad.
