[Dauda Lawal](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dauda_Lawal), the Governor of Zamfara State, said the 95‑kilometre road network being built in Tsafe Local Government Area will boost security operations, ease the movement of goods and stimulate economic activity in the region.
He made the remarks on Sunday as he officially kicked off the works that will link Yandoton Daji, Cediya, Doka, ‘Yan Waren Daji, Hayin Alhaji Bedi, Unguwar Joji and Yankuzo to the town of Tsafe, together with the construction of five new bridges.
The scheme is divided into two stages, with the first covering 47 km and the second 48 km.
The initial phase has been awarded to SKY Construction Company, while the second phase is being handled by [Setraco Construction Company Limited](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Setraco).
Speaking at the inauguration, Lawal highlighted that the project is vital because it will connect largely agricultural communities that form a significant part of the state’s economy.
He added that the upgraded road will also improve the mobility of security agencies, enabling faster response to threats and attacks in the area.
“Reconstructing this road will enhance the movement of goods and the mobility of security agencies, thereby improving operational capacity and response to threats or attacks,” he said.
According to the governor, the undertaking forms part of his administration’s wider infrastructure renewal programme aimed at linking communities and addressing long‑standing deficits across [Zamfara State](https://zamsa.gov.ng).
He cited other ongoing projects such as the Gusau‑Magami‑Dansadau Road, the Zurmi‑Rukudawa Road and the Mallamawa‑Bukkuyum Road with a spur to Masamar Mudi.
Lawal stressed that good roads are essential for safe transport, efficient goods movement and overall economic growth, noting that the Tsafe project is expected to spur commercial activity and improve residents’ quality of life.
He affirmed the urgency of completing the works given the challenging conditions in the communities and pledged strict adherence to timelines for timely delivery.
The governor instructed the [Ministry of Works and Infrastructure](https://zamsa.gov.ng/ministry-of-works-infrastructure) to ensure effective supervision, quality assurance and compliance with approved engineering standards throughout the construction.
He also warned contractors on government projects to deliver value for money and maintain high workmanship standards.
“Contractors handling government projects must understand that Zamfara State expects value for money, quality craft, and infrastructure capable of withstanding the test of time,” Lawal said.
He expressed confidence that the new road will strengthen security, improve transportation and foster greater integration among communities in Tsafe and surrounding areas.
