England captain and 2023 Ballon d’Or winner Harry Kane has agreed a fresh contract with Bayern Munich that will see him remain at the German club until 2029, extending his stay for another six seasons.
What are the main terms of the new deal?
Kane entered the final year of the four‑year agreement he signed after his £86 million transfer from Tottenham Hotspur in 2023. The extension reportedly raises his weekly wage to more than £400,000 (about $539,000), which would make him the highest‑paid player in Europe before bonuses. During the 2023‑24 campaign he broke the club record by scoring 61 goals in 51 appearances, helping Bayern secure a league‑and‑cup double.
How did Kane describe his feelings about staying?
"I feel right at home at FC Bayern," the striker said. "I love the club, the fans and the city of Munich. We have a fantastic team and, in Vincent Kompany, a fantastic manager. It makes me very proud to be part of this club. My whole family is very happy here. I was keen to stay. I'm now looking forward to the future and I want to win many more titles with this great club."
What did Bayern Munich’s leadership say?
Club president Herbert Hainer remarked, "What began as a major transfer has, over time, become a special chapter in FC Bayern's history. Harry Kane lives up to every promise football has to offer, and he has secured his place in the hearts of the fans as one of the greatest figures in the sport of our time. My compliments to Jan‑Christian Dreesen and our sporting management team. This is a special moment for FC Bayern today."
CEO Jan‑Christian Dreesen added, "We're delighted to have successfully extended Harry Kane's contract. This is fantastic news for us, for our fans and for the Bundesliga. The Ballon d’Or winner is staying at Bayern Munich! Since joining us in 2023, he has achieved extraordinary things with his goals, his influence on the game, and as a role model both on and off the pitch. He has long since made FC Bayern his home, has continued to develop with us and crowned that development with the Ballon d’Or. His contract extension is a commitment to FC Bayern and to a story that is far from over."
Board member for sport Max Eberl said, "This key contract extension gives us certainty in our planning. It sends a message that the biggest goals are within reach at FC Bayern. Players like Harry Kane offer a team unique opportunities. We're delighted that he will continue to be a key figure who helps shape the direction of the club, and with whom we can continue to build our squad for the future."
Sporting director Christoph Freund concluded, "We're absolutely delighted, because with Harry Kane we have the Ballon d’Or winner on the pitch – a team player, a leader, the best all‑round striker in the world. We all benefit from his qualities as a player and as a person, day in, day out. FC Bayern thrives on players who never stop giving their all, even when they have already achieved the greatest of goals."
Kane's Ballon d’Or win made him the first Englishman in 25 years to claim football's top individual prize, after finishing the season with 73 goals across all competitions. His extended stay is expected to keep Bayern competitive in domestic and European contests for the foreseeable future.
