The Senate of [Ignatius Ajuru University of Education](https://iaue.edu.ng) (IAUE) in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, formally expelled final‑year student Onyewuenyi Chiamaka Nora on October 12, 2026 after a video she posted online alleged that a lecturer was preparing her research project for a fee of N150,000.
The clip, which circulated widely on social media the previous week, showed Nora speaking about her project, struggling to elaborate on the topic and claiming that her supervisor was completing the work for her and other students.
In a statement released by the university’s Public Relations Officer, Dr Ngozi Okiridu, the Senate said it convened on Wednesday at the Postgraduate Hall to examine the video’s content and the student’s assertions. The body found the description of the project as “Citizenship” and the claim that the supervisor authored the paper to be unacceptable.
The university clarified that the Department of English Language and Literary Studies has no project titled “Citizenship.” It added that the expulsion was intended to discourage similar conduct among the student body. The official notice read: "Senate has expelled Miss Onyewuenyi Chiamaka Nora with Matriculation Number U/2022/19900, a final‑year student of the Department of English and Literary Studies, over damaging content creation."
The decision underscores IAUE’s zero‑tolerance stance on allegations that could tarnish the institution’s reputation and highlights the administration’s commitment to upholding academic integrity.
