The Lagos State Waterways Authority (LASWA) has announced that the Ikorodu Ferry Terminal will resume passenger ferry operations effective January 19. This announcement was made on Friday, addressing all ferry operators and terminal users.
Mr. Oluwadamilola Emmanuel, the Special Adviser on Blue Economy to the Lagos State Governor and Project Coordinator, issued this statement. He noted that the terminal had been closed since October 20, 2025, due to navigational issues stemming from an infestation of water hyacinth.
During the terminal's closure, services were temporarily moved to the Ibeshe Terminal and Offin Jetty.
Mr. Emmanuel explained, "With the successful removal of the water hyacinth, completion of safety assessments, and collaboration with the National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA), the terminal is now ready to resume full operations."
He instructed all operators to return to their regular service schedules while ensuring adherence to all safety regulations and operational standards.
"It is essential for operators to comply with all existing safety and operational requirements," he emphasized.
