INEC publishes preliminary voters' register online ahead of December 15 final release

The Independent National Electoral Commission has uploaded the 2027 election preliminary voters' register to its website, responding to stakeholder concerns and preparing for the final register's certification on 15 December 2026.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has placed the preliminary register of voters for the 2027 general election on its online portal, addressing public demand for broader access and setting the stage for the final register’s certification on 15 December 2026.

The complete list is now viewable at https://display.inecnigeria.org and mirrors the register that was previously displayed at registration centres across the country.

National Commissioner and Chairman of the Information and Voter Education Committee, [Mohammed Kudu Haruna](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mohammed_Kudu_Haruna), said in a Monday statement that INEC “has taken note of the concerns expressed by Nigerians and other stakeholders regarding the desirability of making the Register accessible through its online platform in addition to the physical display already conducted.”

He added that the move aligns with the commission’s pledge to enhance transparency, accessibility and public confidence in the electoral process, and therefore the same preliminary register has been uploaded to the website.

Haruna reminded that the physical exhibition of the register complied with Section 19 of the [Electoral Act, 2026](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Electoral_Act_(Nigeria)) and ran from 9 to 15 October 2026, giving voters a chance to review their details and lodge any lawful objections.

The commissioner emphasized that the digital publication does not replace the earlier exercise; rather, it supplements it to broaden public reach.

INEC confirmed that it continues to examine the claims and objections received during the physical display.

“The commission is processing these submissions in line with the Electoral Act, 2026, as we prepare for the certification and publication of the final voters’ register on 15 December 2026,” the statement read.

He concluded by thanking Nigerians and other stakeholders for their ongoing engagement and reaffirmed INEC’s commitment to transparency, accountability and strict adherence to the Electoral Act in delivering credible elections.

**Why was the online register released?**

The online version was introduced to address stakeholder concerns about accessibility and to provide a convenient avenue for citizens nationwide to verify their registration details.

**What next for the voter register?**

After the deadline for claims and objections, INEC will finalize the register and publish the official list on 15 December 2026, paving the way for the 2027 general election preparations.
