The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has reported that it has successfully registered 4,423 eligible voters in Anambra State as part of its ongoing Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) initiative.
Queen Agwu, the State Resident Electoral Commissioner, made this announcement during a media briefing on Wednesday in Awka.
According to the News Agency of Nigeria, INEC registered a total of 2.8 million voters in the state in 2025 prior to the gubernatorial elections.
“This registration process has been initiated in Anambra. The CVR started on January 5 and is set to conclude on April 17, 2026,” she stated.
During this second phase of registration, a cumulative total of 4,423 individuals have been added to the voter roll.
Agwu noted that the registration is being conducted in a rotational manner across the 326 wards in Anambra to enhance grassroots participation.
She urged eligible citizens to register at their local government offices or at the INEC headquarters in the state.
The REC cautioned against any attempts at double registration, explaining that the digital registration system is designed to detect and reject such instances.
“If there are any problems regarding your Permanent Voter Card or related registration issues, please raise them with us. Avoid seeking duplicate registrations if you've already been captured. Instead, provide updates for any existing registration problems,” Agwu advised.
