The [Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC)](https://www.inecnigeria.org/) in [Kano State](https://kano.gov.ng/) announced that a substantial number of eligible voters turned up to collect both newly issued and previously uncollected [Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs)](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Permanent_Voter_Card) across all 44 local government areas, following the deployment of 171,000 cards in the first distribution round.
According to the commission’s Public Relations Officer, Nahila Bello Dandago, the initial batch of 171,000 PVCs was sent to INEC offices throughout the state to make the cards readily accessible.
“People are turning up to collect their PVCs, and even those with old cards that they have not collected are coming to collect theirs,” Dandago told Daily Trust.
She added that the cards are available at every local government office and described the turnout for the collection exercise as impressive.
Dandago urged any voter who has not yet retrieved their card to visit the designated INEC office in their LGA without delay, noting that the drive is intended to ensure all eligible voters possess a PVC before the upcoming elections.
