On September 11, a 46‑year‑old woman identified as Katy Inzer allegedly removed her trousers and began masturbating aboard an [American Airlines](https://www.aa.com/) evening flight that departed Baltimore for Miami, according to a report filed by the [Miami‑Dade Sheriff’s Office](https://www.miamidade.gov/sheriff/).
A fellow traveler alerted a flight attendant, stating that Inzer had taken off her pants, was making inappropriate noises and was actively masturbating. When the crew confronted her, she reportedly pulled her clothing back on, ceased the behavior and fell asleep for the remainder of the journey.
Upon landing in Florida, officers who met Inzer observed a strong smell of alcohol and bloodshot eyes. She claimed she could not recall the alleged act because she had been asleep, the report noted.
The case was initially reported by The Smoking Gun and later forwarded to the [FBI](https://www.fbi.gov/) because jurisdictional issues were unclear. The [U.S. Department of Transportation](https://www.transportation.gov/) advises passengers who witness sexual misconduct on aircraft to report it immediately to crew members or local law enforcement. The agency said it had recorded 104 incidents of sexual assault or misconduct on commercial flights in 2024.
