Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani has been honoured with the prestigious Distinguished Human Capital Development Champion Award by the Chartered Institute of Human Capital Development of Nigeria (CIHCDN) in Abuja. The accolade celebrates his administration's citizen-focused governance, particularly in expanding access to quality education, healthcare delivery, vocational training, and economic empowerment across the state.
The formal presentation took place during the institute's annual national conference held at Merit House, Maitama, Abuja. Organisers stated that the award highlights exceptional leadership in driving rural transformation, financial inclusion, capacity building, and youth development, positioning the state executive's policies as a blueprint for sustainable progress.
Why was Governor Uba Sani honoured?
According to the institute, the recognition stems from deliberate policy decisions aimed at placing citizens at the forefront of governance. Accepting the plaque on behalf of the Governor, the Commissioner for Information and Culture, Malam Ahmed Maiyaki, emphasised that the administration views investments in people—especially women, youths, and vulnerable demographics—as the most vital responsibility of government.
Key achievements highlighted during the event include:
- The establishment of three major Vocational Training and Skills Development Centres located in Rigachikun, Soba, and Samarun Kataf, targeting 32,000 youths annually.
- Massive educational upgrades involving the construction of 736 new classrooms, the renovation of over 1,200 others, and the recruitment and training of thousands of teachers.
- A 50 percent reduction in tuition fees across state-owned tertiary institutions to ease financial burdens on students.
- The distribution of 1,400 trucks of free fertilizer to 420,000 smallholder farmers to boost food security.
- The revitalisation of 255 Primary Healthcare Centres to improve grassroots medical service delivery.
"This recognition is a testament to Governor Uba Sani's unwavering commitment to placing people at the centre of governance," Maiyaki stated, adding that the administration aims to convert young job seekers into competent professionals and employers of labour.
What lies ahead for Kaduna State?
Highlighting the broader scope of human capital growth, Maiyaki explained that the state's development framework transcends classroom walls, encompassing agricultural productivity, rural economic independence, and inclusive governance that disregards ethnic, political, or religious divides.
He concluded by noting that the national accolade serves as a vital morale boost, steeling the administration's resolve to deepen ongoing reforms and accelerate developmental strides for all residents of Kaduna State.
