Kafayat ‘Kaffy’ Shafau, a well-known dancer and entrepreneur from Nigeria, has successfully launched ‘Sister Circle,’ a new initiative aimed at empowering women through personal development, leadership, and significant relationships.
The kickoff event took place at the Alliance Française, Mike Adenuga Centre, on Tuesday and was fully booked, attracting a diverse audience for what the organizers termed a roundtable focused on discussion, networking, and the sharing of experiences among women from different professional backgrounds.
Positioned as an ongoing initiative rather than a one-time event, ‘Sister Circle’ is centered around the theme “Share, Connect, Grow,” with an overarching aim on addressing issues of wellness, financial independence, and femininity, coinciding with the 2026 Women’s Month celebration.
During the launch, attendees engaged in dynamic dialogue and collaborative sharing. According to Kaffy, the platform seeks to create a safe environment for open discussions about identity, resilience, and personal growth.
The initiative also offered a unique experience for participants, including calming practices such as hand-washing rituals, eye-gazing exercises, and aromatherapy, all arranged by Kaffy to cultivate a secure and nurturing environment.
Among the featured speakers were influential figures from various sectors, including entrepreneurs Olori Boye-Ajayi and Adesunmbo Adeoye, and Chizor Malize, CEO of the Financial Institution Training Centre. They shared insights on the significance of self-awareness and growth while encouraging women to connect with one another and pursue purposeful careers.
Kaffy described ‘Sister Circle’ as a “step of faith” aimed at changing the narrative around womanhood and encouraging a balanced discourse between genders.
A highlight of the event was the live signing of her memoir, ‘Alájòótá: A Kaffy Story,’ which delves into themes of resilience and identity, further underlining the initiative's focus on womanhood.
Kaffy expressed her gratitude for the enthusiastic turnout, stating her intent to expand ‘Sister Circle’ beyond Lagos, transforming it into a movement dedicated to women's advancement and societal contributions across Nigeria.
