The All Progressives Congress in Kano State has strongly rejected accusations by Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso that the ruling party and Governor Abba Yusuf manipulated the Independent National Electoral Commission list to exclude the Nigeria Democratic Congress candidate.

The Kano State chapter of the All Progressives Congress has firmly refuted claims by Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso alleging that the party and Governor Abba Yusuf orchestrated the omission of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) governorship candidate's name from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) records. Alhaji Umar Haruna-Doguwa, the Kano State APC Chairman, addressed the matter in a public statement released in Kano on Tuesday, labeling the assertions as entirely unfounded and misleading.

Key details surrounding the controversy indicate that the dispute stems from internal party disagreements within the NDC involving candidate Aminu Abdussalam-Gwarzo rather than external political interference. According to the APC leadership, the ongoing legal battles were initiated by aggrieved members of the NDC against their own platform. "Neither the party nor Gov. Yusuf has any involvement whatsoever in the legal proceedings surrounding the NDC candidate," Haruna-Doguwa stated, emphasizing that the judiciary operates independently.

What did the Kano APC say about the allegations?

The ruling party described the accusations as a deliberate strategy of political blackmail by Senator Kwankwaso, who serves as a prominent figure within the NDC. The APC chairman challenged the former governor to produce verifiable proof connecting the state government or the party to the court actions rather than fueling unnecessary political friction.

Furthermore, the party reiterated its respect for democratic ideals and the electoral framework leading up to the upcoming general elections. Haruna- Doguwa maintained that every qualified aspirant holds a constitutional right to contest political offices without undue interference, adding that the APC harbors no intentions of undermining opposition platforms.
