Kebbi Governor Idris Allocates N100 Million to IDPs and Commits Monthly Security Funding

Governor Nasir Idris of Kebbi State has handed over ₦100 million to internally displaced persons in Danko Wasagu LGA and pledged a further ₦10 million each month for community security, while also planning a forward operating base and road rehabilitation.

Kebbi State Governor [Nasir Idris](https://kebbi.gov.ng/governor) announced on Saturday that his administration has transferred ₦100 million to [internally displaced persons](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Internally_displaced_persons) in the [Danko Wasagu Local Government Area](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Danko_Wasagu) and will thereafter provide ₦10 million each month to fund community‑based security initiatives.

During a sympathy visit to the chief of Wasagu Chiefdom, the governor also said a Forward Operating Base will be constructed to improve rapid response and deter further bandit incursions in Wasagu and adjacent settlements.

He further committed to rehabilitating the main road linking the Danko Wasagu township, a move aimed at easing access for security forces, traders and farmers.

**Why is the funding needed?**

Recent bandit raids have forced many residents to flee their homes, leaving farms uncultivated and disrupting local commerce. The cash assistance is intended to meet urgent humanitarian needs while the security funding supports local vigilante groups.

**Who supported the governor’s plan?**

[Haliru Aliyu Wasagu](https://kebbi.gov.ng/commissioner-internal-security), the state Commissioner for Internal Security, praised the governor for providing logistical and operational backing to security agencies. Chief Muktar Musa of Wasagu and Danko Wasagu LGA Chairman Hussaini Aliyu Bena welcomed the interventions, urging sustained security patrols, humanitarian aid and road works to enable displaced families to return to farming.

The governor reaffirmed that his government will continue collaborating with security agencies, traditional rulers and community leaders to restore peace and allow residents to resume normal economic activities.
