Lawmaker representing Kogi West Senatorial District, Sunday Steve Karimi, has lauded the head of the Department of State Services in Kogi State, Bashar, for displaying exemplary professionalism and vigour in combating kidnapping, banditry, and allied criminal activities within the region.
In a media statement issued in Lokoja, the federal legislator commended the security chief's hands-on strategy, noting that the director frequently joins field operatives in operations aimed at flushing out criminal syndicates from the state's forested areas.
How was political neutrality maintained?
Beyond counter-crime operations, the senator applauded the state DSS commander for upholding strict political neutrality and handling civic matters professionally across party lines. Karimi stated that the leadership has actively fostered a tranquil political climate by suppressing thuggery, intimidation, and violence during public events and election campaigns.
To illustrate this operational efficiency, the senator recounted an episode from his recent town hall engagement in Kabba, where alleged thugs disguised in law enforcement uniforms tried to sabotage the morning event. Prompt intelligence sharing prompted the DSS director to deploy tactical personnel immediately, forcing the suspects to abandon their mission and flee the vicinity before causing any destruction.
What did the lawmaker urge security agencies to do?
Describing the swift response as a testament to diligent intelligence gathering and responsible command, Karimi emphasized that such dedication to public safety merits public acknowledgement. He called upon all security formations in the state to deepen their synergy and maintain high standards of professionalism to guarantee enduring peace and stability across Kogi State.
