During the operation officers retrieved two AK‑47 assault rifles, three magazines and 42 live rounds of ammunition from a commercial vehicle.

The seizure occurred as part of a stop‑and‑search patrol along the Alapa‑Okolowo corridor of the city.

Investigators found the weapons hidden inside a bag placed in the vehicle’s cargo area.

The suspect told officers that a man named Dan Yarubawa had supplied him with the weapons for delivery to another person called Dahiru, who resides outside Kwara State.

Police indicated that they are continuing efforts to apprehend the remaining suspects and to map the full scope of the alleged trafficking network.
