Manchester City has made history by securing a place in their fourth consecutive FA Cup final, a feat never before achieved. The team secured this record with a dramatic 2-1 victory over Southampton at Wembley, coming from behind to clinch the win.
The Citizens' triumph ended Southampton's remarkable 20-match unbeaten streak, which had lasted since January. The Championship side had previously caused a major upset by defeating Arsenal in the quarter-finals.
Southampton appeared to be heading for another significant giant-killing when Finn Azaz struck a superb curling shot into the top far corner in the 79th minute, putting them ahead 1-0. This goal marked the end of their lengthy undefeated run.
Despite fielding a rotated squad, Manchester City, participating in their eighth successive FA Cup semi-final, had dominated the match and created numerous scoring opportunities. Their persistence paid off just three minutes after Southampton took the lead, with winger Jeremy Doku netting the equalizer.
Doku's shot, a low drive, took a deflection off a defender before finding the back of the net, levelling the score.
The decisive goal came three minutes before the end of regulation time, when Nico Gonzalez unleashed a long-range strike that left the goalkeeper with no chance, securing the 2-1 win for Manchester City.
Manager Pep Guardiola's team will now await the outcome of the second semi- final, where either Chelsea or Leeds United will be their opponent in the final.
