Nigerian military personnel successfully rescued three teenage girls in Bokkos Local Government Area of Plateau State following a firefight with their abductors. The victims were safely reunited with their families as security forces continue efforts to apprehend the fleeing suspects.

Personnel attached to Operation Enduring Peace (OPEP) successfully rescued three female kidnap victims without injury following an armed confrontation with their captors at Makundang village within the Mangor District of Bokkos Local Government Area, Plateau State.

Sector 5 operatives of the military formation acted swiftly on a distress call regarding a kidnapping incident around 8:50 p.m. on November 5, 2026, deploying immediately to initiate search-and-rescue protocols at the location.

Upon arriving at the scene, the security personnel engaged the criminal elements in a gunfight. Overwhelmed by the tactical superiority and intense firepower of the troops, the abductors abandoned the captives and retreated into the dense nearby vegetation.

Authorities identified the freed teenagers as 19-year-old Miss Fatigi Aguna, alongside 18-year-olds Lovina Bawa and Barsheba Appolos.

Following the operation, all three individuals were confirmed to be physically unharmed and have since been restored to their respective families.

What are the next steps for security agencies?

Military intelligence and tactical units have intensified operations within the general area to track and capture the suspects who managed to escape into the bush during the rescue mission. Security stakeholders have continued to urge local communities to report suspicious movements promptly to aid proactive interventions.
