The [Military Pensions Board](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Military_Pensions_Board) convened a consultative session with representatives of veterans’ organisations in Abuja on Friday to clarify how the recently approved pension rates will be applied, the board’s public relations officer, Squadron Leader Aliyu Mohammed, told defence reporters.
The meeting addressed concerns raised by the veterans’ delegates and outlined the step‑by‑step process for implementing the new rates. Participants were given a detailed briefing on the calculation method, timelines for disbursement and the channels through which pensioners can seek assistance.
Veterans’ representatives expressed appreciation for the direct engagement, noting that the explanations helped resolve many of the uncertainties they had previously voiced. They welcomed the opportunity to discuss broader pension‑related matters with the board.
The board reiterated its dedication to the welfare of military pensioners, promising transparent communication and constructive interaction with all stakeholders. "It also assured stakeholders that it would address pension‑related concerns within its mandate and encouraged continued dialogue through established communication channels," the statement read.
What next?
The board indicated that it will monitor the implementation closely, maintain open lines of communication and address any emerging issues promptly, ensuring that the new pension framework benefits eligible retirees across the country.
