Minna Polo Club Re-Elects Bago and Babangida to Executive Positions

The Minna Polo Club has praised the unwavering dedication of Niger State Governor, Mohammed Umaru Bago, and Mohammad Babangida, the patron of the Kaduna El-Amin Polo organization, for their leadership and efforts towards advancing polo in the state and across the nation.

At a well-attended Annual General Meeting (AGM), members of the club unanimously decided to re-elect Governor Bago as President and Babangida as First Vice President in the newly formed Executive Committee. This choice showcases the confidence that members have in their ability to enhance the sport and establish Minna as a central hub for polo.

The AGM took place on September 2, 2022, at the Club House in the IBB Sports Complex, and it also resulted in the selection of new officials responsible for the club's operations. Daniel Shashere has been elected as Second Vice President, while Jamilu King continues in his role as Polo Captain. Ahmed Salisu has been re-elected as Honourable Secretary, with Prince Aminu Bahago remaining in his position as Treasurer, and Abubakar Sadiq Wushishi joining the team as Tournament Manager.

Regarding the new executive mandate, the club's secretary Mukhtar Hassan, a former Assistant Secretary, also maintained his position on the Executive Committee as a Grounds Member. The team is rounded off by Bashar King serving as Entertainment Member, Ahmed Kashim as House Member, and Aliyu Abdulmalik as Pony Welfare Member.

Chairing the Minna Polo Club Board of Trustees is Gen. M. A. Garba, who is also a trustee of the Nigerian Polo Federation, alongside Alhaji Musa Tanko, Alhaji Nura, and Hajiya Jumai Jafaru.

Secretary Ahmed Salisu emphasized that members tasked the committee with revitalizing the club and harnessing polo as a means to boost tourism and economic activities in the region.

Governor Bago, who accepted to extend his presidency, reiterated his administration's commitment to leveraging sports as a strategic factor to draw in investors and tourists. He described both polo and sports in general as vital avenues for promoting friendship, fostering national unity, and enhancing cross-cultural understanding, while also acting as catalysts for international diplomacy, tourism, and business growth.

He added that Niger State takes pride in the operations of the club and remains dedicated to utilizing polo as a showcase of its world-class leisure facilities and high-quality hospitality to a global audience.
