Luka Modric, the Croatian football great, has voiced that Cristiano Ronaldo ought to end his tenure with the Portugal national team on a high note, after the forward walked out of a training camp following a dispute with head coach Jorge Jesus. The comment was made on Tuesday as the 41‑year‑old’s future with the national side remains uncertain.
**What did Modric say?**
Modric praised Ronaldo, calling him “the greatest player in the history of Portugal” and insisting he deserves “another farewell and another ending” with the national side. He added that it is “sad to see this happening to Cristiano in his own country” and expressed confidence that a solution will be found, whether Ronaldo retires or simply steps away.
**Why is Ronaldo’s future in doubt?**
Ronaldo issued a lengthy statement confirming he is still available for selection, but reports suggest the Al‑Nassr forward wants Jorge Jesus removed before he returns to the squad. The disagreement has left his international status in limbo.
**What could happen next?**
Modric concluded by saying he does not know the exact details of the incident but hopes the situation will be resolved promptly, allowing Ronaldo to receive the proper send‑off he merits.
