The [Olubadan of Ibadanland](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Olubadan_of_Ibadan), Oba Rasidi Ladoja, on Tuesday appealed to the federal government led by [President Bola Tinubu](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bola_Tinubu) to urgently revive the ailing [University College Hospital, Ibadan](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/University_College_Hospital,_Ibadan). He warned that the hospital’s infrastructure is deteriorating and that there is a critical shortage of medical personnel.
During a meeting with Finance Minister [Taiwo Oyedele](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Taiwo_Oyedele) and Health Minister [Prof. Ali Pate](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ali_Pate), the traditional ruler reiterated his concerns and urged immediate federal action.
**What did the Olubadan say?**
He stated, “I am worried about the present precarious situation of the health facility. There is also an acute shortage of medical personnel. Urgent action must be taken to arrest the situation.”
**Why is the appeal significant?**
The Olubadan highlighted that UCH, once a premier teaching hospital, now faces dilapidated wards, malfunctioning equipment, and insufficient staff, jeopardising patient care in the region.
**What response is expected?**
Ladoja commended President Tinubu for previous efforts to restore the hospital’s reputation but stressed that swift, concrete measures are needed to prevent further decline.
The appeal underscores growing pressure on the Tinubu administration to address health infrastructure challenges across Nigeria.
