The spiritual leader of the INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, Primate Elijah Ayodele, has cautioned citizens of Nigeria to brace for intensified economic hardship and a wave of new government levies, describing the country's financial landscape as an ticking economic time bomb.
Primate Ayodele delivered this caution through a video recording shared across digital platforms on Saturday. According to the cleric, the general populace should anticipate increasingly difficult living conditions as authorities roll out further tax measures capable of deepening the financial strain on vulnerable citizens.
“Nigeria is sitting on an economic time bomb that could explode. The hardship Nigerians are experiencing now is nothing compared to the extraordinary hardship still coming. The government will implement more taxes,” the cleric stated.
What did the religious leader predict about the future?
Elaborating on his concerns, the spiritual leader warned that unless immediate corrective measures are implemented, the national economy risks a total collapse. He noted that the prevailing distress felt across households is merely a precursor to graver challenges projected to peak toward 2027.
In response to the situation, he appealed to the Federal Government of Nigeria led by President Bola Tinubu to pay heed to public grievances and halt policy directions that exacerbate poverty and deprivation.
Primate Ayodele has established a reputation for issuing frequent public forecasts concerning governance, socioeconomic trends, and electoral politics, attracting substantial public attention across the country.
