The [Rivers State Police Command](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rivers_State_Police_Command) has detained two alleged kidnappers in the Borikiri area of Port Harcourt and rescued the abducted individual.
ASP Agabe Blessing Kaborlo, the command’s spokesperson, announced in a statement on Monday, 5 October 2026, that the arrested men belong to a six‑member syndicate that seized the victim outside a newly opened commercial bank.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, the man was held for three days before being released after his family paid a ransom of N10.3 million.
“The Rivers State Police Command has arrested two suspected members of a six‑man kidnapping syndicate involved in the abduction of Mr Hassan, a resident of Rivers State,” the statement read.
On 7 September 2026, at about 1000 hours, the command received reliable intelligence about the kidnapping, which had occurred on 6 September 2026 near the premises of [Fidelity Bank](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fidelity_Bank_(Nigeria)) in the Garrison area of Port Harcourt.
The victim was allegedly taken to Igbugulu Waterside, Borikiri, where he remained captive for three days until his relatives settled the N10.3 million ransom.
Following the tip‑off, operatives from the Command’s Violent Crime Response Unit (VCRU‑AKU) launched an intelligence‑driven operation that led to the apprehension of two suspects.
The individuals identified are Victor Ifeanyi, 24, known as “Big Boby,” from Aguleri Community, Otuocha LGA, Anambra State, and Aniekan Okon Michael, 36, nicknamed “Duff Man,” from Ikot Ukpor, Essien Udim LGA, Akwa Ibom State.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the suspects admitted their role in the kidnapping and revealed that the gang consists of six members who used a white mini‑bus (keke‑bus) during the crime.
“The Command has stepped up efforts to capture the remaining gang members and bring them to justice,” the statement added.
Commissioner of Police, Rivers State Command, CP Olugbenga Adewole Adepoju, urged the public to furnish credible information that could help identify and arrest criminal elements, assuring that any tips will be handled confidentially.
He reiterated that the command will persist with intelligence‑led operations to dismantle kidnapping networks and other criminal groups across the state, while appealing to residents to stay calm and cooperate with security agencies.
