Roger Federer, the renowned tennis icon, has firmly indicated that he has no desire to take on a coaching role for Spanish tennis star Carlos Alcaraz.

At only 22 years old, Alcaraz is celebrated as one of the most promising talents in the sport, alongside Jannik Sinner, having already claimed six Grand Slam titles. The speculation surrounding his coaching situation heightened in December 2025 after he ended his long-standing partnership with coach Juan Carlos Ferrero.

With Samuel Lopez stepping in as the new coach, Alcaraz is gearing up for the first Grand Slam of the 2026 season. When questioned about the possibility of joining Alcaraz’s coaching staff, Federer was quick to rule it out.

"No, I’m definitely out. I might be able to offer him some peripheral advice, but everyone knows I’m quite occupied with my children and my life at the moment," Federer conveyed to TNT.

Despite his non-involvement, Federer commended Alcaraz’s skill, emphasizing that the young athlete has the talent to excel independently, while still recognizing the significance of effective coaching.

"I believe he can succeed with or without a coach; he’s really that good. Nevertheless, a competent coach can certainly provide valuable support," he expressed.

Federer also mentioned that the adjustment period after Ferrero’s departure could pose difficulties for Alcaraz, particularly with the additional pressure from media attention.

"Finding the right person to support him will be crucial. Achieving a career Grand Slam at such a young age is truly remarkable," he remarked.

Looking ahead to the new season, Federer identified Alcaraz, Sinner, and Novak Djokovic as major contenders.

"We will see if he can achieve this. Sinner is certainly another key favorite, and I believe Novak stands a strong chance as well. I’m very eager to witness how it all unfolds," he added.
