[Senator Muhammad Adamu Aliero](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Muhammad_Adamu_Aliero) has formally appealed to the federal authorities for immediate assistance after bandits fleeing military sweeps in Zamfara and Sokoto forced thousands of residents from Jega and Maiyama LGAs in Kebbi State to abandon their homes.
He presented a motion on urgent national matters before the Senate, noting that surviving bandits have moved into Kebbi communities such as Jan Dutsi, Agada, Kimba, Alelu, Tanja, Jadadi, Bawanka, Kaba, Zugu, Tafkin Kada and Gehuru. The influx has exposed locals to intimidation, property loss and casualties, pushing many to seek refuge in the headquarters of Jega, Aliero and Maiyama LGAs. Aliero also highlighted the killing of three employees of Hi‑Tech, the contractor handling the Badagry–Sokoto Superhighway project, amid the security crisis.
The [Kebbi State Government](https://kebbi.gov.ng) has already set up temporary shelters, provided food and basic relief, but the senator warned that the scale of the humanitarian emergency exceeds the state's capacity.
He urged the [Federal Government of Nigeria](https://www.nigeria.gov.ng) to deploy additional security personnel, equipment and logistical support to contain the bandit incursions and restore safety to the affected communities.
The motion also called on the [National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA)](https://www.nema.gov.ng) to conduct rapid needs assessments and deliver food, water, temporary accommodation, medical kits and other essential relief items to displaced residents.
Aliero stressed that coordinated action between federal and state agencies is essential for both security and humanitarian response, and that displaced families should be allowed to return once their villages are secured.
