Suspect Arrested for the Murder of PDP Leader in Adamawa; Two Accomplices Killed

In a recent operation, the Adamawa State Police arrested a man for allegedly murdering his elder brother, a local PDP leader. The police also neutralized two accomplices who resisted arrest during a confrontation.

The Adamawa State Police Command has apprehended an individual in connection with the murder of his older brother, Alhaji Sadiq Kawu Boga, in the Gombi Local Government Area of the state.

The victim was known as a chieftain of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) and served as the Supervisory Councillor for Agriculture and Natural Resources in Gombi LGA.

He was reportedly killed on January 20, 2026.

Police spokesperson, Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, announced this development in a statement on Wednesday, January 28, 2026. He indicated that the suspect, Abubakar Sadiq, was arrested based on reliable intelligence and his own admission of guilt, alongside five other suspects involved in the crime.

The spokesperson noted that the suspect guided the police in the recovery of an AK-47 rifle, a homemade single-barrel shotgun, a Dane Gun, and 24 live ammunition rounds.

Additionally, the suspect identified two of his accomplices, Jalo Hamiyu, 35, and Umar Baba, 41, both residing in Fotta Village within Gombi LGA.

According to police reports, a collaborative group of security operatives, local hunters, and members of the Civilian Joint Task Force proceeded to the suspects' hideout.

Upon the sight of the security teams, the two accomplices opened fire, leading to an exchange of gunfire that resulted in their deaths.

“The Adamawa State Police Command has achieved another significant milestone in its ongoing efforts to combat violent crimes, including culpable homicide, armed robbery, kidnapping, and illegal firearms possession,” the statement detailed.
