Following Arsenal's narrow 1-0 triumph over Hull City in a Premier League fixture, former club forward Theo Walcott has singled out Noni Madueke as the player who has caught his eye the most. Walcott noted that the squad's growing confidence in the winger stems from his capacity to execute actions on the pitch that his teammates simply cannot replicate.
Speaking to Premier League Productions, the retired England international explained the dynamic between Madueke and the rest of the squad. He pointed out that his ability to create openings and take on defenders has earned him the trust of the team, leading to more frequent possession during matches.
Why does Walcott find Madueke impressive?
Walcott acknowledged that while wingers can occasionally be unpredictable and prone to fluctuating form, Madueke brings a distinct profile to the side compared to star teammate Bukayo Saka. He commended the player's resilience, noting that he has had to display immense patience to break into regular contention.
"I think the players trust him, and they are giving him the ball more often because he does things that other players won’t be able to do," Walcott stated during his post-match analysis.
"He can be frustrating, and you get that inconsistency with wingers; he’s a different player to Bukayo Saka as well. I have been really impressed with him because he’s had to be patient," he added.
