In Osogbo, Governor Ademola Adeleke and former Governor Adegboyega Oyetola pledged to work together to secure 1.5 million votes for President Bola Tinubu, while Tompolo unveiled 10,000 canvassers and donated 30 campaign vehicles and PA systems.

At a weekend rally held in Freedom Park, Osogbo, Governor Ademola Adeleke and former Governor Adegboyega Oyetola announced a joint effort to deliver at least 1.5 million votes for President Bola Tinubu in Osun State. The event also saw the Grand Patron of the Tinubu Door‑to‑Door Movement, High Chief Government Ekpemupolo – popularly known as Tompolo – launch a force of 10,000 canvassers and hand over 30 campaign vehicles together with public‑address equipment.

Key details of the mobilisation

  • Ten thousand volunteers were officially enrolled to canvass communities across the state.
  • Thirty motor vehicles and accompanying PA systems were donated to aid the grassroots drive.
  • The campaign targets a minimum of 1.5 million votes for Tinubu, with some leaders mentioning a ceiling of two million.
  • Tompolo urged supporters to aim for at least 90 % of the state’s votes for the incumbent president.
  • APC National Secretary Dr Ajibola Basiru highlighted the Nigerian Education Loan Fund and ongoing road projects as achievements to showcase.

What did the political leaders say?

Governor Ademola Adeleke, acting as the state coordinator of the Presidential Campaign Council, stressed that the launch was “a timely push to gain further momentum” and called on coalition partners to set aside past disagreements. He urged all stakeholders to “deliver between 1.5 to 2 million votes for Mr President.”

Former Governor Adegboyega Oyetola, now Minister of Marine and Blue Economy and represented by Bola Oyebamiji, appealed for sincerity, discipline and commitment from the canvassers. He warned against hypocrisy, political pretence and complacency, and asked political leaders and interest groups to rise above personal ego for the national objective.

What role does Tompolo play?

High Chief Government Ekpemupolo (Tompolo) addressed the crowd through his representative, Dr Kestin Pondi of Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited. He declared that the movement aims to capture at least 90 % of Osun’s votes for Tinubu, stating, “We know you are already going to vote for your brother, your son, the man moving Nigeria forward – we just want your vote not to be less than 90 %.”

How will the canvassers promote the agenda?

APC National Secretary Dr Ajibola Basiru explained that the volunteers will travel to communities to educate residents on the Tinubu administration’s policies, citing the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) and major road projects such as the Ilesa‑Ife‑Ibadan Expressway, Osogbo‑Gbongan Expressway and Osogbo‑Iwo‑Ibadan road as tangible benefits.

What is the expected impact?

The Osun State coordinator of the PBAT Door‑to‑Door Movement, Adeolu Timothy, pledged that the canvassers will monitor grassroots sentiment and encourage voters not only to support Tinubu at the ballot box but also to assist the campaign’s broader mobilisation efforts.

Overall, the coordinated effort by state leaders, a prominent former militia commander, and the APC hierarchy signals a concerted push to secure a decisive vote tally for the incumbent president ahead of the 2027 election cycle.
