The popular "Alakada" franchise is back with a new installment titled "Alakada GenZ," and the official trailer has just been unveiled. Toyin Abraham Ajeyemi returns to her beloved character, Yetunde Animashaun, in this latest comedy, which promises to deliver the franchise's signature blend of humor and social commentary.

The sequel follows Yetunde as she attempts to navigate the contemporary landscape of Generation Z, characterized by viral social media trends and the pursuit of online clout. The trailer suggests Yetunde will once again be involved in elaborate schemes, this time focusing on emulating the aspirational "soft life" often showcased online, leading to predictably chaotic and amusing situations.

Abraham Ajeyemi not only stars in the film but also serves as a producer, ensuring the continuation of the comedic style that has made the "Alakada" series a consistent hit in Nollywood. The film is under the direction of Akay Mason, who brings a modern visual style to Yetunde's persistent quest for status.

The cast features a mix of established and emerging talents. Alongside Toyin Abraham Ajeyemi are Teniola Aladese, Bianca Ugowanne, Irewole Olaniyan, and Imisioluwa Opeyemi Ayanwale, the winner of Big Brother Naija season 10. Their collective performances are expected to bring to life a narrative centered on the challenges of projecting an affluent image while coming from a less privileged background. The plot appears to revolve around Yetunde's attempt to pass herself off as a wealthy "nepo baby," a deception that becomes increasingly difficult to sustain as she integrates into Gen Z social circles.

"Alakada GenZ" is slated for release exclusively on Toyin Abraham TV on April 21, 2026. The trailer is now available for viewing.
