Super Eagles star Victor Osimhen marked the arrival of his newborn daughter by scoring for Galatasaray in a 4-0 triumph over Konyaspor on Friday night, though his performance was dampened by a late fitness scare. The Nigerian forward opened the scoring in the 12th minute at the Konya Metropolitan Municipality Stadium, meeting a delivery from Gabriel Sara with a powerful header past goalkeeper Deniz Ertaş.
Key details from the match highlight Osimhen's impact before his substitution in the 61st minute for Deniz Gül. The striker registered his 10th goal of the season across all competitions, troubled the Konyaspor defense repeatedly with headers and shots, and required medical attention during the first half before visibly limping while acknowledging supporters at full time. Galatasaray management has yet to issue an official medical bulletin regarding the severity of his physical discomfort.
How did the match unfold for the Nigerian striker?
Osimhen was active from the opening whistle, asserting himself in the opponent's box. Following his 12th-minute opener, he continued to pressure the defensive line, forcing Ertaş into a sharp save with a fierce strike shortly before halftime. He remained a constant aerial threat after the break, coming close from a corner kick before eventually making way for a substitute just after the hour mark.
What lies ahead for Galatasaray and the forward?
The concern now shifts to the club's medical team as they evaluate the extent of the forward's injury. With crucial league fixtures approaching, supporters and national team handlers will be monitoring updates closely to determine how long the prolific goalscorer might be sidelined.
