Paris Saint‑Germain midfielder Vitinha said he hopes [Cristiano Ronaldo](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cristiano_Ronaldo) will rejoin the [Portugal national team](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Portugal_national_football_team) once his dispute with coach [Jorge Jesus](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jorge_Jesus) is resolved.
He added that the squad collectively wishes the 41‑year‑old striker’s return and that the disagreement be settled amicably.
Speaking to TNT Sports on Wednesday after PSG’s 4‑2 triumph over Manchester City, Vitinha described the recent international break as emotionally charged.
"It was a turbulent international break — full of high emotions," he told the broadcaster.
"For my part, I just hope everything gets resolved for the best. I hope he returns and that everything turns out fine. The truth is, that’s what we all want. I hope he comes back and everything is sorted out," Vitinha said.
Ronaldo walked out of the Portugal camp during the break after a clash with Jesus over his minutes on the pitch.
The Al Nassr forward later posted an apology to teammates on social media, while also accusing Jesus of breaking a promise.
He stated he would accept any sanction imposed by the [Portuguese Football Federation](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Portuguese_Football_Federation) and reiterated his intention to keep representing his country.
The federation has provisionally suspended the captain, pending a final disciplinary ruling that will remain confidential until the investigation concludes.
Ronaldo still holds Portugal’s scoring record, tallying 146 goals in 234 appearances.
Vitinha featured in all four of Portugal’s Nations League victories during the break, and the team is set to meet Denmark and Wales in November.
