On Monday afternoon, Nigeria’s electricity grid fell from 3,647 megawatts to just 675 megawatts, an 81.5% drop, after nine major power plants went offline. Distribution companies AEDC and Ikeja Electric warned customers of reduced supply while the grid operator worked to stabilise the system.
