  On 8 December 2014, two governorship primaries were held in Enugu State. Ayogu Eze won his primary at Filbon Hotel with 526 votes, while Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi emerged from a PDP national electoral panel primary at Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium with 933 votes. The central dispute was over the legitimacy of the delegate list used for Ugwuanyi's primary, which Eze argued was improper. A Federal High Court injunction and a three-year legal battle followed, culminating in a Supreme Court dismissal of Eze's challenge on 6 July 2018.
